ヴァレリアは学校でたくさんのことを学んでいました。大好きな虹の色の名前をすべて知っています。数字も知っていたし、指の本数も足の指の本数もすべて数えることができます。

ヴァレリアは、まわりが彼女ことを春の朝のようにかわいい子どもだと思っているのを知らなかったので、いつも隠れていました。自分の声がおやすみのキスのように甘いと思われているととしらなかったので、誰にも聞こえないほど静かに話しました。

だから彼女はいつも下を向いていました。
友達を靴で見分けるのです。
下を向いているから、ラウルの靴を何度も見つけました。彼は靴ひもを結ばなかったため、靴ひもがいつも脱げてしまい、靴ひもが空中に飛んでしまうほど飛び跳ねてしまうのです。
