昔々、森のうろの木に小さな妖精が住んでいました。
彼女は踊るのが大好きで、春には太陽の帰還を祝う踊り、秋には黄葉が舞い散る踊り、冬には雪が舞い散る踊りを踊りました。

ある日、森の中を探検していた妖精は、大きくて丸いだいだい色のものが落ちているのを見つけました。
「なんて大きな卵なんだろう。どこから来たんだろう？」
と妖精は思いました。
見上げると、頭上の雲に明るい穴があいているのが見えました。
「わかったわ」と妖精は言いました。「太陽が卵を落としたのに、雲に邪魔されて見えないのよ」
小さな妖精はすぐに走って行き、友達のラーチにそのことを伝えました……。
