パプアニューギニアの熱帯雨林の奥深くに、雄大なボサビ火山がそびえ立っています。それは木々の梢をはるかに超える高さでした。
何千年もの間、手つかずのまま残されたその深い火口には、多くの好奇心旺盛な生き物たちの住処となっていました。

ネズミのラティは死火山の火口の奥深くに住んでいました。
暮らしは楽しかったし、友達はみんな近くに住んでいて、昼寝をしたり森の果実をかじったりといった、彼の好きなことをする時間はたっぷりありました。
