「嵐が来るみたいだよ、ネズミくん」コクマルガラスは言いました。「羽根に感じるよ」
ネズミは大きなため息をつきました。
ネズミは最近、ため息をつくことが多かったのです。まるでどこか遠くにいるかのようでした。
「ネズミくん？」
コクマルカラスは言いました。
「話したいことがあったら、聞くよ。」
ネズミは顔を上げて深呼吸をしました。
まるで、ずっと悩んでいたことをついに口にしようとしていたかのようでした。
しかし、ネズミの言葉は――どんな言葉になるのかわかりませんでしたが――かすれてしまいました。かわりに、ただこう答えたました。
「カラスくん、大丈夫。外に出なきゃ」
「でも、嵐が――」コクマルカラスはネズミの後ろから叫びました。。けれどもネズミはすでに去ってしまいました……。

主人公のネズミは、内面的な悲しみや重い感情（心の嵐）を抱えています。
親友のカラスにその様子を見られたことでパニックになり、感情を隠そうとして森の奥深くへ逃げ出してしまいます。

強い孤立感、そして助けを求める勇気を丁寧に描き、友情について考えさせられる、静かで深い余韻を残す絵本です。
