『Flowers for Things I Don’t Know How to Say』は、アメリカの現代アーティストであるTucker Nichols（タッカー・ニコルズ）による画集です。たくさんの鮮やかな花の絵画をまとめた1冊です。

タッカー・ニコルズは20代後半の頃、重い病気を患い、診断すら困難な状況に置かれました。
その際、周囲の人々が何を言葉にしていいかわからず、沈黙やぎこちない対応が続いた経験が強く残りました。
言葉では伝えきれない共感や連帯の力を感じた彼は、半生を経て、2020年のパンデミック期にその記憶を呼び起こします。

彼は「Flowers for Sick People」というマルチメディア・アート・プロジェクトを開始しました。
病を抱える人々（友人、知人の知人、時には見知らぬ人）に向けて、小さな花の絵画を制作し、愛する人々の代わりに郵送するという行為です。妻と娘の協力のもとで続けられたこのプロジェクトは、言葉に代わる優しさの表現として多くの反響を呼びました。

本書はそのプロジェクトを発展させたもので、100点以上の花の絵画を収録しています。各絵画は特定の「宛先」を想定した短い詩的献辞（dedication）と組み合わされており、さまざまな人間の感情や状況——孤独、喪失、不安、回復への願いなど——に対して、花という形で寄り添っていきます。

言葉にできない感情に対する「代弁」としての花。個別の苦しみが実は普遍的なものであることを静かに示唆しています。
病気の人だけでなく、困難を抱えるあらゆる人に向けた「贈り物」としての本。どんな状況にあっても花を贈る価値がある、というメッセージが貫かれています。
