スペインのイラストレーター、ミレン・アシアイン・ロラさんの絵本です。
最初の絵本「A GOOD DAY」を彷彿とさせるように、少し離れたところから、様々な人々、たくさんの動物たち、移ろいゆく季節を丁寧に描いています。
「A GOOD DAY」の紹介でも書きましたが、パッと開いた時の見開きいっぱいのイラストが、まるで舞台のワンシーンを見ているように、世界がギュッと詰まっています。

この絵本のために地球詩を書いたのはジョイス・シドマンさんです。
自然の変化を謳いあげるように書いた表現は美しく、躍動感があります。
日本で翻訳されている絵本ですと「蝶の目と草はらの秘密」（冨山房）があります。

本書は、地球に語りかけるように、また問いかけるように、詩が謳われています。
一言では表現できない地球の姿を、美しく言葉の連なりで表現されています。
最後のページでは科学的なデータを元にした解説も記載されているため、文学的に科学的にと両方のアプローチから地球について学び感じとることができる絵本です。
その表現はまるでドキュメンタリー映画を見ているようです。

理科絵本の体裁をとっていますが、文学的に芸術的に読むことができる、素敵な絵本です。
